Also, rather than analysing concrete social relations between people, the above labels tend to reify and obscure social relations.

Whether Gramsci’s analysis remains trapped within a Leninist bias towards statism (Nimni, 1991: 193) or whether he favoured more dynamic and democratic grassroots forms of social change (Femia, 1998: 107–13). 5.
